Basin

GIS points file showing the location of Stormwater Basins within the boundaries of Ocean County New Jersey. This dataset was created at the Center for Remote Sensing and Spatial Analysis, Rutgers University. Data was collected by scanning Basin Information Sheets submitted to the Ocean County Soil Conservation District.  Data was scanned into PDF format and basin information was extracted into a database system. Basin location was determined on the ground using either; 1) Basin GPS coordinate 2) Basin road address 3) Basin parcel location.  The exact location of each basin was determined using the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection 2007 and the United States Department of Agriculture 2008 aerial photography.

Basin ownership was determined by linking the State MODIV database to the Ocean County Parcel Database. Basins locations were then interesected with the Ocean County Parcel Database to extract ownership information.

Attributes

  1. Soil Conservation District Identifier; The unique identification number assigned to each basin by the Ocean County Soil Conservation District.
  2. PDF of HxH data summary form; The name of the PDF file that contains the original basin datasheets submitted to the Ocean County Soil Conservation District. If you click on this link the PDF file will open up.
  3. SW Basin Type; Type of basin infiltration, detention, retention.
  4. SW Basin Owner; Taken from the NJ OIT MODIV tax database.

Potential Mitigation Sites

The Ocean County and individual municipal mosquito commissions provided information as to individual stormwater basins that they have identified as failing (i.e., not functioning properly) and in need of mitigation.
